Internal Communications Executive

Position Overview:

The Internal Communications Exec is responsible for providing support in the smooth delivery of communication within Identity. Working collaboratively with People & Culture (P&C), as well as the wider teams to allow key business messaging throughout the business. This also includes taking a supporting role on the staff forum.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Internal Comms

  • Working with the HoM and P&C Director, establish an internal communications strategy and ensure its successful delivery across the business
  • Ensure organisational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to the wider team at Identity using bob, email and the intranet (current iZone).
  • Proactively engage with all departments across the organisation to ensure that you (post holder) are up to date with latest activity and able to communicate across the business.  
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet, monthly magazine or regular bob or email bulletins. You may also be required to work on the layout of content.
  • Storyboard or translate ideas to the creative team to deliver internal communications materials.
  • Establish a tone of voice for internal communications working closely with the P&C Director and HoM ensuring that Identity’s values are reflected within it. Additionally, collaborate with Creative to ensure that the internal TOV marries with the external TOV.
  • Support the Executive Team with the production of decks  (template and creative) and organisation of quarterly or adhoc townhall meetings using Zoom (or Teams).
  • Support the Executive Team, in particular the P&C Team, with the employee comms around the annual staff conference working closely with the appointed producer.
  • Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
  • In partnership with the P&C Director and HoM, handle the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organisational perception and reputation.

 

Employee Engagement / Employee Value Proposition

  • Contribute to the creation of an employee engagement (EE) strategy working closely with the P&C Director and team.
  • Support the delivery of the EE strategy ensuring that recognition awards, social value initiatives and social events are communicated.
  • Create and analyse staff surveys and pulse checks (using bob) in conjunction with the P&C team.
  • Sit on the Staff Forum ensuring that outcomes of meetings and requests for feedback or ideas are communicated across the business. Supporting the roll out of social and charitable activities.
  • Work with the P&C team to finalise (and regularly review) the employee value proposition (EVP) and employer brand. To update content on job boards (Identity company page) e.g. LinkedIn, Indeed etc.
  • Support the P&C Team at trade shows (recruitment activity) by identifying appropriate shows to attend and creating a stand / collateral to support it.
  • Support P&C in communicating processes and training opportunities

 

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a marketing role writing a variety of content for publication
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees and communications between teams
  • Previous experience and the ability to communicate with all stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to manage expectations and deliver accordingly especially in a reactive environment
  • Experience in owning a project from conception to delivery and seeking assistance when needed
  • Exceptional communication skills both written and verbally
  • Strong presentation skills, can formulate the presentation then comfortable deliver to the required audience
  • Proactive and innovative to consistently think of new ideas and approaches in communicating to the Identity team
  • Good understanding of the different departments at Identity and the need to adapt language accordingly
  • Good skills in digital and video content
  • Self motivated to keep up with industry trends
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
